Evidence Based Therapy

Lauren specialises in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of psychological difficulties and mental illness including

Lauren provides evidence-based therapy interventions tailored to individual presentations and needs. The first session is devoted to getting to know you, which provides the basis for collaboration on which therapy approach will best suit your needs. The following therapy types are offered by Lauren as part of your therapy journey:

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective therapy that helps people recover from emotional distress caused by traumatic experiences. It involves recalling troubling memories while focusing on simple, repetitive movements, like side-to-side eye movements or taps. This helps the brain process the memories in a way that reduces their impact and promotes healing. EMDR is known for helping with PTSD, anxiety, and other trauma-related issues.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a modern therapy approach that helps people develop psychological flexibility. It encourages acceptance of difficult thoughts and feelings rather than struggling with them, while also promoting commitment to actions that align with one’s values. ACT techniques help individuals live more meaningful and fulfilling lives, often focusing on mindfulness, acceptance, and behavior change.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a widely used evidence-based approach that focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It aims to help individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to their difficulties. CBT is structured, goal-oriented, and typically involves practical strategies that can be applied in daily life to manage and overcome challenges. It is effective for a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, and stress.
